Cary Gross, MD, professor of medicine (general internal medicine) at Yale School of Medicine, has studied financial conflicts of interest in American medicine for more than 20 years. In a recent systematic review published in JNCI: Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Gross and his colleagues examined the prevalence of financial conflicts of interest in cancer research and care in the United States, where cancer care spending exceeds $200 billion per year.
