Insulin on edge: Study identifies stress-triggered gene behind diabetes

Researchers from Osaka Metropolitan University have identified a gene that, when activated by metabolic stress, damages pancreatic β-cells—the cells responsible for insulin production and blood sugar control—pushing them toward dysfunction.
